Welcoming the wild rose into my space was one of the small sacred moments, that looking back, I see had changed everything. Underneath the light of sister Moon, I held the soft, dark, soil in my hands. I softly blew into it the wishes and blessings of gratitude to Mother Earth who has gifted such a virtuous plant and such rich soil to sustain it while it gives nourishment and healing to its many living creatures.
As I placed the soil into the pot, the rose plant began to sparkle in the corner of my eye. I picked it up, gently loosened its roots, planted it carefully into the rich soil in the beautiful urn I had chosen for its home earlier that day, and sprinkled some spring water around its roots. Once the soil was tucked in and wrapped around its stem to keep it cozy, my hands picked up five pieces of rose quartz crystals feeling their soft glow in the moonlight. One at a time, the crystals found their way into the soil around the young wild rose. Each carried a blessing of beauty, joy, nourishment, health, and successful journeys through many seasons that lay ahead. Springwater washed over them and settled them into the soil while giving the young rose a refreshing drink. My heart was warmed with gratitude for the honor of befriending this special plant spirit. My hands offered love and gratitude to the mysterious realms of the unseen and felt the streams of healing love-filled light surge through radiating out of the hands which were gently hovering around the young rose. I could feel her life forces pulsate and my palms as they tingled. My hands became very hot, the light streams surged even more intensely flowing from the heavenly heights and at the same time reaching up from the depths of Mother Earth’s heart. The young plant danced and spread its leaves out as if it were taking a deep breath and a wide stretch while settling into our home.
The next day’s meditation offered visions of roses being exchanged between people of all ages and from all of the many walks of life. All were smiling and looking into each others’ eyes with compassion and recognition of each other’s light. My whole being felt exhilarated with the vision of the world governed and permeated by compassion, kindness, and honor for the spirit of love within each of us.
That day, all around me there seemed to be dancing the names of goddesses and divine beings I knew of, but had not deeply studied in the past. They seemed to be pointing the way towards learning more about Aphrodite, Mejrem, Mary, Maunakeoa, the Moon. Little did I know of the great rose spirit wisdom their stories they were to teach me under the light of the coming moons.
