A Springtime Reflection on Egg Magick & the Hand’s Quiet Work
In the tender threshold between winter and spring, when the earth still holds its breath and the light returns in soft, deliberate steps, there is a kind of work that asks for slowness and deep remembering.
Onion skins gathered like fragments of sun-warmed earth, leaves pressed gently against fragile shells. cloth wraps the whole, like a quiet promise held together, and then ... heat, water, time.
In the story of The Egg of Returning Light (watch the video above to hear the tale), the egg is formed where warmth gathers beneath the surface. It is held, marked, and awakened through care. Each egg becomes a threshold object, a meeting place between intention and matter. The patterns left behind by leaves feel like memory returning to the surface.
The Language of the Hands
There is a moment in the process of magick making, quiet, almost easy to miss, when the hands stop trying to control and begin to listen. This is where egg magick begins.
The wrapping of the leaf. The tying of the thread. The placing into water.
Let this be protected.
Let this carry new life.
Let this return at the right time.
In older-than-old folk traditions, eggs have long been seen as symbols of rebirth, protection, and the cyclical nature of life, and yet, even without knowing the history, hands remember.
🧶 The Thread That Continues
Yarn drawn through fingers, loops formed and reformed, a shape emerging, slowly, patiently, from nothing: a small bunny, soft, simple, filled with warmth.
egg - the beginning, holds potential
thread - gives direction
bunny - the becoming
In the story, the egg opens, and something tender emerges: a being that learns to move, to touch the earth, to become.
In your hands, this transformation continues:
The egg is dyed, marked, and blessed
The yarn is shaped, looped, and brought into form
Both acts belong to the same lineage of making and become acts of magick making and devotion to becoming.
